Responsible Solar Development
We work hard to balance proper project siting, engineering efficiency, environmental permitting, community engagement, utility coordination, construction planning, and power sales.
Developing a Solar Project Requires Expertise at Each Stage in the Project Life Cycle
Land Origination
Siting is everything, and we will work with landowners to determine if their property is a good fit for solar. We perform rigorous due diligence on the property to make sure that the project is viable. We are looking for landowners that have property close to 3-phase power, limited wetlands, mostly flat terrain. Projects can be developed on fields, landfills, forests, and gravel pits.
Permitting
We work with local municipalities, state agencies, and federal agencies to determine which permits are required for any given project. Because we have good relationships with many towns as well as with regulators, we always ensure that the right permits are pulled for a project.
Abutter Outreach
A well sited project has the buy in from abutters. If your property is close to the neighbors, then one of our first steps is to let the neighbors know and see if they have any questions. Most of the time, people just want to be informed what’s happening next to their property lines, so we take time to educate and be a resource. The last thing people need are surprises.
Utility Coordination
Each project must have an interconnection agreement with the local electric utility. We work directly with the utility on the initial feasibility of connecting to the grid, and eventually a cost estimate is formed and the project is built with the full buy in and approval from the utility.
PPA vs Community Solar
There are multiple paths to market for to save money with solar. Residential customers will benefit by savings ~15% on their energy bills, but a larger corporation might want to lock 20 years of energy costs with a PPA. We can help you navigate your options.
EPC Services and Construction
If you are looking for assistance finding local contractors that can build your project, we can connect you to the right people. Given our local presence we can act as your owner’s rep owner as a hired consultant to offer updates and feedback during the construction phase.
